VPI Record Washing Machine

VPI Record Washing Machine

Postby bauzace50 » Fri May 26, 2017 12:37 pm

Hi,
After 16 years excellent service my VPI RCM 16.5 ceased working. The vacuum motor does not work when actuating its On/Off Switch.

I am planning on purchasing another identical model after examining its insides.

We'll see.

Hoping it's only a tired fuse!

Perhaps old Harry W would have an idea. He used to have a discussion forum also. Maybe an answer there?

Yeah! Could be something simple - vacuum motors tend not to just stop.
Normally there are a few warning signs (well..sounds and smells  ) first.

Yes! I will not pull the plug until examining the internal components!

Probably next week. Right now I am sorting through old family records regarding registry inscriptions and titles. Really old minutiae. Am developing neck ache. Naturally.

VPI sells replacement motors and as long as you have access to a voltmeter this should be a very simple repair. Plus in the unit turn on the vacuum switch and look for voltage across the motor if you see it the motor is bad, if you don't look at the switch. The toughest part of the job should be getting the cover off to look inside.

Ahhh. Thankyou. This may have saved me the cost of an entire replacement! It just took a little nudging from my doldrums!
Will report next week.
Thanks,
